JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

The main purpose of this position is to train all Averda drivers how to drive safely a (light or heavy) truck, how to maintain the truck and how to operate all the attachments on the truck. Driving Instructors are primarily responsible for classroom training and compiling training material, behind-the-wheel instruction, and “on the job training” of new drivers.
Data capture of accident/incident history and investigations will be required as well as route assessments.

• Knowledge of country regulations relating to the trucking industry.
• Proficient in skills as they relate to operations of over-the-road, diesel-powered Class A commercial vehicles.
• Evaluates drivers to measure their progress toward achievement of objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress.
• Identifies and assesses drivers who are in need of additional instruction to successfully prepare them for taking on a driver’s role.
• Facilitates the repair of equipment and vehicles if necessary.
• Recommends supplies and equipment for budgetary consideration.
• Maintains appropriate records for courses, classes, students, instructors and equipment in accordance with state and regulatory/licensure agencies and Company requirements.
• Assist with driver recruitment efforts.
• Comply with all applicable country regulations regarding operation of commercial vehicles.
• Comply with all Company employment policies and safety and substance abuse prevention policies.
• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, use equipment and materials properly.
• Consistently at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
• Oversee day-to-day operation of the drivers.
• Participates in Route Assessments and compiles reports.
• Practices “on the job training” where required.

Complies with the Health & Safety instructions:
• Responsible in exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self & others in the organization
• Responsible to comply with the applicable HSE procedures, instructions, requirements, standards received from regulatory and statutory bodies
• Responsible for reporting to superior occurrences, events, violations and acts that may impact staff health and safety or the environment

REQUIREMENTS

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Candidate should have minimum 3 years UAE driving license or be in a position to obtain it at short notice (Conversion)
• 5 years proven classroom/vehicle training experience preferred
• Profound experience as a driving instructor and assessor
• Excellent driving skills (including driving a drawbar trailer)
• Must have a Zero accident history in the past year
• Excellent communication skills which help while teaching traffic laws and explaining safety regulations in a classroom setting
• Excellent instructional skills
• Extensive knowledge of vehicle control and maintenance
• Fluent in English – Hindi an added advantage
• Experience in Waste Management and related vehicles an added advantage
