JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Job Description
Working closely with project managers and senior project engineers to provide engineering support for their projects. This involves meetings and coordination with different project teams and client/end-users.
Involved in technical meetings to understand the requirements specification and prepare datasheets, drawings using 2D CAD software.
Produce designs and drawings for electrical systems, i.e., interconnection diagrams, cable schedules, single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, grounding/earthing, lighting, and services designs.
Review and prepare cable tray design, calculate cable sizing, and coordinate with consultants for accurate datasheets and sizing.
Review and support in preparation of BOQ material take-offs.
Ensure all drawings and deliverables are checked and IFC drawings are issued to project teams for execution and compliance with project and company quality standards.
Update as-built drawings as per the client's redline markups, RML, and submit to client through EDMS solutions.
Ensure and execute designs that follow the electrical design criteria for the project as well as defined design standards, codes, and regulations.
Ensure coordination of all electrical interfaces with engineers of other disciplines, consultants, clients, PMC personnel, and internal EEIC project managers, senior project engineers, and other site project engineers.
Prepare detailed drawings including SLDs, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, loop diagrams, cable routing, and instrumentation layouts.
Create as-built drawings based on site mark-ups and redlines.
Ensure compliance with project specifications, ADNOC standards, and international codes (IEC, NEC, etc.).
Coordinate with project engineers, site teams, and other disciplines to ensure drawing accuracy.
Maintain proper version control and documentation of drawings.
Review vendor drawings and incorporate them into the overall design.
Support electrical and automation engineers in developing design packages for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or ITI in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a draftsman in oil and gas or EPC projects.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, EPLAN, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Knowledge of PLC, SCADA system layouts, and automation panels is an added advantage.
- Familiar with UAE standards and ADNOC requirements (preferred).
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver quality drawings.
Additional Information
Skills & Professional Requirements
- Experience working as a senior draftsman on electrical and automation projects.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant drafting requirements.
- Experience working on ADNOC brownfield projects or plants is preferred.
- Experience with review of piping bulk deliverables (i.e., general arrangement drawings, detailed module layouts, isometrics, piping support schedule, etc.).
Experience
- Experience level: 8 years.
- 5 years or more experience in UAE or Middle East.
- Minimum 3 years as senior draftsman/designer with strong knowledge of discipline-specific drafting skills, codes, standards, and practices.
- High level of drafting skills using AutoCAD, MS Office, or other 3D software.
- HSE compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
