Job overview

As an electrical design engineer for fire fighting trucks and vehicles, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and components tailored to meet the requirements of our fire fighting vehicles. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the electrical systems are safe, efficient, and integrated seamlessly into the vehicle designs.

Key responsibilities

Electrical system design & development: Design and develop electrical systems, wiring harnesses, control panels, and power distribution systems for fire fighting trucks and emergency vehicles.

Component selection & sizing: Specify and select electrical components (e.g., motors, switches, controllers, sensors) ensuring they meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards.

Circuit design & schematics: Create detailed circuit diagrams, wiring layouts, and schematics for vehicle electrical systems.

Integration & testing: Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to integrate electrical systems with other vehicle subsystems. Perform testing and validation of electrical designs to ensure performance, safety, and reliability.

Compliance & standards: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards.

Troubleshooting & support: Provide technical support for manufacturing, assembly, and field operations, helping troubleshoot electrical issues during production and in-service vehicles.

Documentation & reporting: Prepare technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, design specifications, test reports, and other necessary reports for internal and regulatory purposes.

Continuous improvement: Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for process improvements, cost reductions, and innovations in vehicle electrical systems.

Desired candidate profile

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field. Master's degree or additional certifications in relevant areas is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the automotive, military, or specialized vehicle sectors (fire fighting vehicles is highly desirable).

Technical skills

Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, power electronics, and vehicle electrical systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD software (SOLIDWORKS) for electrical schematic and wiring diagram creation.

Understanding of vehicle electrical integration and control systems.

Experience with CAN bus systems and automotive communication protocols.

Soft skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
