It is a unique opportunity for a positive, business focused individual to work within a humanitarian business function to support The Executive Leadership Team with both the day to day finance and the strategic business model. Essentially a manpower organisation in the humanitarian sector, our client provides support to conflict affected countries and communities on the ground. With an ever-growing presence in the field they are now seeking a dynamic, forward thinking, problem solving Financial Controller who has the capabilities to be both hands on and strategic and therefore assist the Senior Management Team to make clear decision for the future of the business.

With manpower in countries across the Middle East and Africa, the Finance Controller will have knowledge on each location and country at their fingertips, so rapid reporting mechanisms will also require implementation. This in turn will also ensure the relevant countries’ daily and weekly reports are in line with the regional office needs here in Dubai, so communication at all levels is a key aspect of this role. Therefore, the most suitable candidate will have the initiative to develop and collaborate with those already in country to the correct standards to ensure processes are as efficient as possible from everyone involved in the business, across all functionalities. Travel is required; however, it is only expected on occasion throughout the year. In addition, you will pre-empt regular reports and data required by the Executive Leadership Team and provide not only analysis, but improvements, predict trends, forecasts and cash flow issues in order to implement change across the whole finance function. Daily management of the finances includes full P&L, AR, AP, GL and reconciliations with strict budget control. The organisation currently has up to 50 suppliers across several different countries and maintaining relationships and control here is essential in order to ensure they are compliant to best fit the ever-changing demands and needs of the individual regions. Additionally, you will also manage a small finance team whose functions include qualified and part qualified accountants, finance administrators and a sole credit controller.

REQUIREMENTS

The role of Financial Controller is also open to candidates from overseas with a minimum of a finance degree from a western educational institution, coupled with exposure from a large blue-chip company. The number of years of experience is not essential, but an ability to see the day to day detail as well as the overall business is a necessity. You will be an outstanding finance professional with fantastic communication skills and a committed approach to all that you do. The successful incumbent should also possess the ability to understand the business very quickly and implement change efficiently with maximum impact. As the role demands travel across the MENA region it is essential that the successful individual is able to travel with relative ease and on occasion at short notice.
