JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
The Finance Manager with a dual background in finance and procurement plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of the healthcare organization. This role involves overseeing the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions while also managing procurement activities to ensure that goods and services are acquired at the best value. The Finance Manager will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to align financial goals with procurement strategies, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with industry regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variance analyses.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to the executive team.
Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, standards, and internal policies.
Procurement Management:
Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's financial goals and healthcare industry standards.
Oversee the procurement of medical supplies, equipment, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.
Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers, securing favorable terms and conditions.
Manage relationships with key suppliers, ensuring ongoing compliance and performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to understand their financial needs and provide support in budgeting and procurement processes.
Work with IT and other departments to implement and optimize financial and procurement systems.
Provide financial training and guidance to procurement staff and other department heads.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Identify and mitigate financial and procurement risks, ensuring the organization's assets are protected.
Ensure adherence to all relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and ethical standards in both finance and procurement activities.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial and procurement processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
Implement cost-control measures across the organization without compromising the quality of care.
Monitor market trends and changes in the healthcare supply chain to anticipate and respond to price fluctuations.
Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and procurement teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, ensuring the organization adapts to evolving healthcare finance and procurement landscapes.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFM) is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance and procurement, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within the healthcare industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and procurement management tools. Strong understanding of healthcare financial regulations and procurement practices.
Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external vendors.
