JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Role Holder is required to be always ready during their shift to respond to any emergency located in and around the company, whilst maximizing their own safety, within the time determined by international aviation standards in order to minimize the risk to company users, assets, and facilities
KEY ACCCOUNTABILITIES
• Respond to all incidents, including fires and accidents, as quickly and safely as possible, in order to minimize damage to company users and assets, and minimize impact on operational capacity.
• Respond to hazardous materials incidents, including fuel spills, in order to contain the impact of such incidents, contact all required parties as set out in standard operating procedures, in order to maintain the safety of company users.
• Respond to all alarm calls, including practice and false alarms, in the most efficient and safe manner within the timelines established by national and international civil aviation regulations.
• Operate all light and medium fire and rescue vehicles as required, within permitted driving regulations, to assist the Fire and Rescue Services meet their day to day operations
• Keep AES vehicles/appliances in good condition and ensure that there is no damage to any of the equipment fitted at each vehicle.
• Check and wash AES vehicles, as assigned by the Duty Officer, so that the vehicle they are assigned to is fully functional and ready and available for any and all emergencies.
• Deputize for Sub Fire Officer in emergency situations as required in order to maintain safe operational conduct in reaction to emergencies and fires as they occur.
• Perform regular exercise and training, and attend regular lectures, to maintain operational readiness for any and all incidents that may occur in and around company area of responsibility.
• Regularly check and ensure, at the Duty Managers direction, all hydrants and fire suppression systems on company property are fully functional to ensure that they are operational for any emergency that may arise.
• Perform and maintain a high strength level through physical fitness to increase stamina to reduce the risk of injuries to perform and complete fire ground tasks and to save prisons life effectively.
• Obtain knowledge, skills and understanding to maintain a high level of competence in all fire practices and department standard operating procedures.
• Extremely dangerous working conditions are a critical aspect of emergency and rescue operations including serious risk of injury and death.
• Response after shift is required to maintain response during a major emergency until the Firefighter is relieved from duty by the next shift when it is deemed safe to do so by the Duty Officer.
• Required to work 12 hour shifts and on a shift rotational basis which includes regular overnight shift
