Role & Responsibilities

The Engineer will report to the Discipline Head/Project Manager/AFRY Management.
HVAC / MEP - Design and Site Supervision Requirements:
• Prior Experience in substation projects from 33kV to 132kV voltage levels in middle east.
• Design of HVAC / MEP systems from concept to final construction drawing.
• Calculation of Cooling and Heating load using carrier software E-20 and HAP.
• Psychometric analysis for cooling, dehumidification etc.
• Sizing and Selection of Equipment such as package unit, Chiller, AHU, Pumps, Motors, valves/fittings air terminal devices etc.
• Development of Control Schemes for HVAC
• Analysis of Hazard classification of areas to be protected.
• Hydraulic calculation, Flow calculation.
• Design of Building storm drainage, Foul drainage, Plumbing systems
• Liaison with other discipline, consultant, client and participate in client meeting, site construction meeting.
• Supervise and guide designer for CAD drafting and site engineer for inspection.

FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM (FPS) - Design and Site Supervision Requirements:
The Fire Fighting design engineer will be responsible for the following:
• Prior Experience in substation projects from 33kV to 132kV voltage levels in middle east.
• Design of Fire alarm, Firefighting system.
• Shall review the design drawings / documents, amendments, as fitted and zone plan drawings for all Fire Protection Systems as requested.
• Shall also run and assist in the installations and manage the projects from start to finish.
• Shall organize installations from the design right through to the commissioning and sign off of work from customer
• The Engineer will ensure that the communication between Contractor’s, Sub Contractor’s, Installation engineers and subcontractors is kept up to allow for a smooth process.
• The Engineer will advocate AFRY vision and values and to be fully responsible for the quality of service to the customers and staff.
• The Engineer shall build relationships with all the customer representatives, AFRY office staff, Site supervisors, Managers and Senior Managers.
• The Engineer shall ensure that the Installation works are managed as efficiently as possible and delivered as per the project set targets.
• Familiar with all International standards like for Fire Fighting like NFPA, ASHRAE, ASNT, ASME, Building codes, IPC
• Proficient in Fire Protection Systems for Hydraulic Calculation.
• Should be able to review the design of the Fire Alarms system
• Should be proficient enough in reviewing the Smoke Management System
• Classification of Fire Hazards, Pipe Sizing, Sprinkler layout, Fire Pump Sizing, Fire water demand and standard installations.
• Review the Head and Hydraulic calculation, Pipe Sizing & selection of fire pumps
• Review the Designing of Firefighting Systems (Pumping, Hydrant, Sprinkler, Clean agent systems etc.) as per NFPA
• Shall demonstrate a Good and sound Knowledge of NFPA Standards
• Responsible to perform the review of the basic design calculations and coordination.
• Responsible for the review of the design, tender packages, bill of quantities, scope of work, general concept, execution and coordination drawings for piping requirements
• Review of Hydraulic Calculations for entire system
• Review & support in Preparing the drawings – Tender, Design & Final Drawings for preparation of shop drawings
• To Supervise the Installation of Internal Network Sprinkler System (Wet & Dry), Stand Pipe (Fire Hose Cabinets & Landing Valves), External network for Fire Hydrant, Pump room, FM 200, Deluge Spray systems and Pre-Action System
• Review the Shop drawings preparation and Material submittals (Pump, valves, Zone Control Valves, Landing Valves, Pipes, Fire Hose Cabinets, Fire Hydrants, Fire Extinguishers, Sprinklers Upright)
