Job Description – Money Laundering Reporting Officer and regulated by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM
The MLRO oversees the Compliance and Financial Crime Program within the ADGM jurisdiction. This includes ensuring compliance with ADGM/FRSA laws and regulations, identifying irregularities, and modifying processes to mitigate non-compliance risks.
The MLRO will also engage with senior management to drive compliance transformation and provide regulatory guidance across the company. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the MLRO will play a crucial role in maintaining the Bank’s compliance framework.
Key Accountabilities
• Governance and Organization: Own and manage the Bank’s FCC framework.
• Present periodic compliance reports to the Board and Senior Management, oversee the compliance advisory function, and enhance governance through senior management engagement.
• Compliance Risk Culture: Build strong relationships with stakeholders to foster a supportive compliance culture and anticipate regulatory changes.
• Regulatory Engagement: Serve as the principal compliance contact on FCC matters with local regulators, prepare for regulatory examinations, and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies.
• Risk Mitigation and Issue Remediation: Work with department heads to improve issue identification and reporting, and provide strategic direction for the FCC framework.
• Processes, Systems, Procedures, and Control Oversight: Review and enhance FCC policies, systems, and controls, and monitor risk appetite and sanctions list management.
• Customer Due Diligence (CDD)/Know Your Customer (KYC)
Oversight:
• Ensure accurate CDD/KYC processes, approve high-risk account onboarding, and advise on potential FCC risks.
• Investigation and Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR): Review AML transaction alerts, submit SARs, and oversee transaction monitoring and regulatory reporting.
• Training Responsibilities: Assess training needs, coordinate FCC training programs, and ensure timely reporting and resolution of compliance issues.
Requirements:
Background Skills and Qualifications• Ideally Female and Arabic Speaker
• Minimum of 10 years of experience within the compliance function, and at least 2 years as an MLRO.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• ACAMS qualification (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of regulatory bodies (SCA, ADGM, CBUAE, DIFC).
• Banking industry experience.
• Approved Person Status (the role is subject to FSRA approval).
• Experience with FIU’s GoAML and IEMS systems.
• Knowledge of local, regional, and international regulatory requirements.
• Expertise in FCC topics (ML/TF, PF, Sanctions, ABC, KYC, Fraud, etc.).
• Ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliance strategy.
• Effective change champion with strategic vision.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
