Main duties and responsibilities:

Health and safety communication and liaison:

  • Keeps the quality & sustainability manager informed of all health & safety related matters.
  • Liaises with management personnel and all employees and assists with health and safety.
  • Liaises with local law enforcement and fire & safety officials.
  • Proper grooming at all times.
  • Attends training classes as per schedule.
  • Shows fullest cooperation and respect within the team and other departments.
  • Is aware of the daily activities and has product knowledge of all the hotel facilities.

Inspections and investigations:

  • Carries out inspections of workplaces and takes appropriate action to ensure compliance.
  • Responds to and investigates concerns and complaints from workers/employers and takes appropriate action.
  • Investigates accidents and injuries that occur in the workplace.
  • Responsible for the establishment of and monitors the performance of workplace safety and health committees.
  • May participate in the delivery of related educational programs and disseminates information to the public.
  • Ensures all staff is thoroughly familiar with the resort's emergency procedures and in a state of preparedness for any emergency which may occur.
  • In case of high hazard area identified, closes the facility area/work and reports to head of department, general manager, and security.
  • Reviews duty manager/night manager book daily and takes corrective action when concerned.
  • Is familiar with all related company documentation and especially with the relevant operational standards manual for his/her field of responsibility.
  • Keeps updating the emergency manual with appropriate procedures and forms with the consultation of quality & sustainability manager.
  • Trains existing employees and newcomers on a regular basis with live fire drills.
  • Conducts and executes skills/technical training within his/her area of responsibility on a regular basis.

General/miscellaneous:

  • Ensures all staff is thoroughly familiar with the hotel's emergency procedures and in a state of preparedness for any emergency which may occur.
  • Is familiar with all related company documentation and especially with the relevant operational standards manual for his/her field of responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special:

  • Assists in task force teams for new openings.
  • Carries out any other reasonable task (which may not be stated here) as requested.

Qualifications:

University degree in related field. Minimum 2 years in a similar role with a five-star hotel, preferably in the UAE. Team management skills, computer skills, and excellent communication skills. NEBOSH IGC certified. Has a qualification of Abu Dhabi Health & Safety practitioners course. Has a qualification of ISO 45001:2018 internal auditor. Can hold IOSH TECH membership. Has up to date first aid training (8 hours including CPR).
