AtkinsRéalís is seeking a dedicated Health Safety and Environment (HSE) professional to join the team. The role is critical in ensuring full compliance with both internal HSE management systems and project-specific safety requirements. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between AtkinsRéalís contractors and subcontractors, driving a culture of safety and accountability across all power projects.

Your role

  • Adhere to and implement AtkinsRéalís internal HSE management system requirements and procedures for AtkinsRéalís site team.
  • Adhere to project HSE requirements and implement these to the AtkinsRéalís team.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on the compliance of all WSA staff with the applicable safety standards and company's procedures, and bring to the attention of the Project Manager any safety violations by WSA site team for their further action.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on contractor and subcontractors' HSE compliance with the project HSE requirements as per the contract and HSE legislation/best practice.
  • Immediately bring to the attention of the AtkinsRéalís Project Manager the critical and outstanding safety issues for their further actions.
  • Conduct and coordinate regular safety training for WSA staff.
  • Carry out daily site HSE tours with contractor HSE staff and highlight findings.
  • Issue Safety Enforcement Notices (SEN) as per applicable AtkinsRéalís SEN procedure.
  • Follow up with the contractor on outstanding HSE issues including SENs and ensure prompt closure with adequate evidence of compliance.
  • Review and comment on the contractors' HSE plans. Advise the contractor to update the site safety plan when necessary.
  • Review and comment on contractors' risk assessments and work method statements.
  • Develop and update AtkinsRéalís HSE documents (the Safety File), e.g., HSE plan, HSE-specific site risk assessment, office risk assessment, office fire risk assessment, etc.
  • Conduct accident and incident investigations for AtkinsRéalís staff.
  • Compile accident reports and incident statistics.
  • Chair weekly safety meetings, where required, with the contractor and other parties as necessary.
  • Issue minutes of meeting (MOM) on time (within 48 hours). Report any outstanding and critical safety issues or lack of action by the contractor in the weekly progress meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain AtkinsRéalís HSE registers, e.g., training induction, SEN, inspection reports, accident/incident, and others as required.
  • Report any accident on site immediately to AtkinsRéalís Health and Safety Manager and Line Manager.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and seek any advice from AtkinsRéalís Health and Safety Manager as required.
  • On major issues prior to issuing Safety Enforcement Notices or Prohibition Notices, seek advice from AtkinsRéalís Health and Safety Manager.

About you

Qualification & certification

  • Minimum HSE qualifications with NEBOSH Diploma/IGC.
  • Lead auditor course (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).
  • Professional membership from IIRSM/IOSH is preferred.

Behavioural competencies

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English are essential.
  • Capable of working independently or within/leading a small team of like-discipline individuals and creating designs relevant to the Middle East environment.

Experience

  • Experience as a site supervision consultant.
  • Middle East experience is mandatory.
