JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We’re assisting a reputable bank in Abu Dhabi in hiring an In-House Counsel to provide expert legal guidance on banking operations and regulatory compliance. If you're a qualified lawyer with strong knowledge of UAE and English law, this could be a great opportunity!
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel to various bank departments on business and operational matters.
- Review and negotiate contracts and agreements, addressing any objections or disputes with customers and external parties.
- Handle daily inquiries on the Court Cases Management System (CCMS) and liaise with relevant authorities on legal matters, including court orders, penalties and customer complaints.
- Oversee fraud risk management and customer protection programs, assisting in litigation and dispute resolution as needed.
- Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments impacting the banking sector, supporting the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel when required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in law or related fields; Arabic speaker- Qualified lawyer, proficient in UAE & English law, familiar with UAE arbitration procedures
- With at least 2 years in a similar role, preferably in banking, law firms or financial services,
- Strong understanding of banking regulations & compliance requirements
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
