The lead data scientist will spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and machine learning solutions at VTS. You will lead a team of data scientists, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and ensure the technical excellence and business impact of data science projects. As a key technical advisor, you will interface with clients and stakeholders to drive innovation and align solutions with strategic objectives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of extensive experience in data science, with at least 3 years in leadership or senior roles.
- Prior experience in pre-sales: proposal writing, estimation, and risk registers.
- Significant background in AI consulting services, leading projects and teams for clients across industries like oil & gas, telecom, health, construction, finance, banking, technology, real estate, media, etc.
- Expertise in strategic project management, MLOps implementation, and mentoring junior data scientists in high-impact consulting engagements.
- Strong experience in Agile/Scrum environments and cross-functional coordination.
- Recognized contributions to open-source, research publications, conference talks, or leadership in analytics communities are highly valued.
- Lead end-to-end development and deployment of complex machine learning models and AI systems for client projects.
- Define model architecture, best practices, and maintain high code quality and MLOps governance in data science workflows.
- Manage cross-functional collaboration between data science, software engineering, product, and business teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Mentor and coach junior and senior data scientists, providing guidance on methodologies, code reviews, and professional development.
- Identify new opportunities for applying data science within client engagements and advise on feasibility and impact.
- Serve as a technical advisor to clients and executive stakeholders, communicating complex concepts in a clear, business-oriented manner.
- Ensure that all solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with broader strategic business objectives.
