JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Providing legal advice: Legal counsels are responsible for providing legal advice and guidance to their organization. They must have a thorough understanding of the legal issues that affect their organization and be able to advise on matters such as contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance.

Drafting and reviewing legal documents: Legal counsels are responsible for drafting and reviewing legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and policies. They must ensure that these documents comply with legal requirements and protect their organization's interests.

Managing litigation: Legal counsels are responsible for managing litigation involving their organization. They must work with outside counsel to develop legal strategies and ensure that their organization is represented effectively in court.

Compliance: Legal counsels must ensure that their organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations. They must stay up-to-date on changes in the law and advise their organization on how to remain compliant.

Risk management: Legal counsels are responsible for identifying and managing legal risks that may affect their organization. They must work with other departments to develop strategies for managing these risks and minimizing their impact.

Training: Legal counsels are responsible for training employees on legal issues that affect their organization. They must develop training materials and deliver training sessions to ensure that employees understand their legal obligations and responsibilities.

Corporate governance: Legal counsels are responsible for ensuring that their organization adheres to good corporate governance practices. They must advise on matters such as board composition, director responsibilities, and shareholder rights.

REQUIREMENTS

To be a successful legal counsel, you must have excellent legal knowledge and analytical skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should also have a thorough understanding of business operations and be able to balance legal and commercial considerations when advising your organization.
