Mechanical maintenance engineer – nuclear power plant

Location: Abu Dhabi

We are seeking a skilled mechanical maintenance engineer to join a nuclear power plant maintenance team. This role focuses on valve and actuator troubleshooting, calibration, and refurbishment during nuclear outage and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical experience with MOV and AOV systems, a solid understanding of maintenance diagnostics, and the ability to lead or coordinate cross-functional maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance based on technical manuals and maintenance documentation.
  • Conduct refurbishment, testing, and adjustment of mechanical operated valves (MOV) and air operated valves (AOV), including actuators and accessories.
  • Acquire and analyse diagnostic data using valve testing and calibration systems or equivalent diagnostic tools.
  • Develop, issue, and revise maintenance procedures for valves, actuators, and related equipment.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities, including calibration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Support engineering and operations departments with technical expertise during maintenance and outage activities.
  • Coordinate and supervise electrical, instrumentation, and control (EI&C) teams during commissioning and maintenance operations.
  • Ensure compliance with nuclear safety procedures, documentation standards, and work permit systems.
  • Maintain clear communication and cooperation across technical teams and departments.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Proven experience in nuclear or power plant maintenance environments, with nuclear outage experience required.
  • Strong understanding of MOV and AOV systems and related diagnostic processes.
  • Proficiency in maintenance procedures, calibration, and testing using diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, manufacturer specifications, and maintenance documentation.
  • Computer literate with experience using maintenance software and digital diagnostic tools.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).
