JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Our client, a well known legal firm based in Abu Dhabi, is currently looking for a Paralegal who will be primarily responsible for assisting its Middle East office in achieving its business goals and to help in providing a high quality service to its clients.

This role will provide the group with specialist support to a wide range of internal projects and initiatives requiring legal training and sector specific experience.

Other responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
* Developing and maintaining a database of precedent documents, processes and fees relating to onshore and offshore company and branch registrations in the emirates and freezones of the UAE;
* Developing relationships with the relevant governmental and free zone authorities;
* Developing a good working relationship with the public relations officer and working with them to understand relevant governmental processes with regard to FDI work;
* Drafting the relevant board resolutions, powers of attorney, Memoranda of Association and Branch Agency Agreements for branch and company set up;
* Liaising directly with the relevant governmental authorities and free zones to progress company/branch set ups;
* Liaising directly with the client with regard to FDI work under the supervision of a partner but with limited partner involvement.
* Drafting of basic corporate documents such as board resolutions and powers of attorney.
* General research projects. Conduct in-depth research on a particular topic and formulate an appropriate response to the research question in the form of a properly drafted memorandum.
* Act as the repository for all original client documentation. Set up a register of all original documentation held by Reed Smith and keep an updated record of the location of all original documents. All documents should be kept in a safe.
* Assist with preparation of bibles on closing of relevant transactions. This will include preparing indexes, hard copy bibles and CD's of the relevant documents as well as ensuring that any original documents are properly filed as per the above.
* Assist with due diligence exercises, including the preparation and indexing of due diligence bundles and management of documents in a data room.
* Assisting partners on larger corporate matters.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered, you should be a degree holder with minimum 2 years of experience in the same capacity in a legal firm in the UAE. You should have good IT literacy with willingness to exploit IT to enhance the provision of legal know-how support. You should have good understanding and appreciation of pressures under which fee earners work and ability to work to deadlines. You should have ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels and cross team involvement from support divisions (i.e. business development, marketing and know how).
