Job summary
Are you passionate about engineering planning and technical innovation within the mechanical field? We are looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our team as a planning engineer. In this pivotal role, you will enable the seamless delivery of mechanical engineering projects through meticulous planning, coordination, and effective communication. Your selling skills, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability will be essential in driving both project and business success.
Key responsibilities
Mechanical planning coordination & project management
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans and schedules for mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery in line with company objectives.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, and sales teams to communicate project requirements and align priorities throughout the lifecycle of each project.
- Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to gather technical requirements, clarify project specifications, and secure approvals as needed.
- Monitor and report on project progress, resolving scheduling conflicts and implementing corrective actions to address any delays or issues.
- Optimise resource allocation, documenting and adjusting plans to accommodate changes in scope or client needs while maintaining efficiency.
- Facilitate risk assessments and mitigation planning to ensure project continuity and safety.
- Support the sales team with technical input during proposal preparation, including technical presentations and client consultations.
Required skills
Technical knowledge, communication & selling skills
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering principles, processes, and best practices.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling clear interaction with clients, colleagues, and team members at all levels.
- Demonstrated selling skills, especially in explaining technical concepts and presenting project solutions to clients.
- Proficiency in project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard engineering tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts fluently.
Qualifications & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in planning, scheduling, or coordination roles within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with modern project management methodologies and tools.
- A track record of working collaboratively in cross-functional environments.
