JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Job Summary:

The jobholder is the subject matter expert on the topic of Healthcare design topics and is a key reference point for his team members. He is in charge of the technical aspects of the design activities of projects of high complexity in K&A. He works closely with Project Managers for the review and validation of design deliverable and monitors the checking and reviews of all design phases and ensures the proper implementation of all related adjustments and revisions. The jobholder conducts design value engineering in coordination with the Project Manager and design teams He is the leading representative of K&A in industry events, conferences and publications. He shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the architectural design market and represent the firm in the professional engineering, as needed.

Key Responsibilities Areas and Activities Of the Role:

- Support Project Managers with the management of client relations and expectations, as needed
- Support Project Managers in client presentations and workshops, as needed
- Support Project Managers with responding to client clarifications and technical issues, as needed
- Represent K&A at the key industry events and conferences
- Provide technical subject matters expertise to clients during proposal stage and in client meetings during design delivery
- Lead the development of publications showcasing K&A's expertise in the field to further promote K&A's brand in the Market
- Ensure client satisfaction with design deliverables
- Provide subject matter expertise on technical complex and focused topics
- Provide sophisticated technical subject matter expertise to design teams during all stages of design delivery (concept design, schematic design, final design) in coordination with Design Managers and Project Managers
- Support the collection of internally available data to support project execution
- Lead discussions with clients to determine criteria guiding design, including budgets, preferences, etc.
- Provide technical assistance in the development of concept designs, including all required drawings and reports, for projects of high complexity, for discussion with clients
- Support Design Manager/Project Managers in the refinement of selected design options into schematic and draft final designs, including all required drawings and reports
- Provide support in design coordination with other design specializations (e.g. Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Transportation) to coordinate design requirements across disciplines for projects of high complexity across all design stages (conceptual, schematic, detailed), as needed
- Closely work with stakeholders for design value engineering for projects of high complexity, as needed
- Closely work with Project Managers for the review and validation of design deliverables with clients and authorities, capturing feedback and obtaining approvals for projects of high complexity, as needed
- Closely work with project teams for reviewing design deliverables of design projects of high complexity, including conducting detailed reviews and checks and the issuance of checking reports, as needed
- Conduct QA/QC reviews on design deliverables
- Assist Project Managers with implementing quality control policies and procedures on design deliverables and conducting peer review on team members' deliverables
- Solve design conflicts during supervision stage for high complexity projects, as needed
- Support during the supervision stage, as needed, including responding to RFIs and solving design conflicts for projects of high complexity, in coordination with local design teams
- Support Design Managers in design and management interrelated issues
- Support in conducting close-out activities and derive lessons learned upload design deliverables into the knowledge management repository as per policies and procedures
- Attend periodic training to further develop relevant skills
- Implement corporate policies and procedures
- Contribute to internal library development and selection of appropriate training programs
- Lead training sessions and provide publication and training material

REQUIREMENTS

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies required to Execute this Role:

- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
- Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
- In depth knowledge and proven track record in the architectural healthcare design field
- Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English

Experience Required to execute this Role:

- 15+ years of experience in design in a top tier regional / multinational engineering consultancy firm
- Strong experience and track record in developing architectural design for large and complex related projects in the related specialty
- Exposure to global best practices and trends in the architectural design, in particular related to design specialty
- Experience in the Middle East is preferred
