Job summary

The procurement manager is responsible for sourcing goods and services, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing aligned with organizational objectives. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation and analytical skills to manage procurement activities efficiently and ensure timely delivery of quality materials and services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies that support business goals.
• Identify reliable suppliers, evaluate vendor performance, and negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements during procurement activities.
• Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for goods and services.
• Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring timely procurement to avoid shortages or excess stock.
• Collaborate with departments to forecast demand and plan procurement schedules.
• Evaluate supplier bids, proposals, and quotations to determine the most cost-effective and beneficial options.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other essential data.
• Resolve supplier or contractor grievances, claims, and delivery issues.
• Lead cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field (master's or professional certifications like CIPS, CPM preferred).
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a procurement or supply chain management role.
• Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques and tools.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead a team and manage high-pressure situations effectively.

Preferred skills

• Familiarity with international procurement and import/export regulations.
• Experience in vendor management and contract law.
• Project management skills and experience handling cross-functional teams.
