Job description summary

To lead, manage, and execute turnkey projects of GE Vernova Grid Solutions in UAE Gulf and Iraq. The candidate will be responsible for project management for standard size projects from contract award up to the final acceptance of the project and warranty period. The project manager is responsible for scope, cost, schedule, stakeholder management, profit and loss accountability, and risk management, as well as quality and customer satisfaction for all assigned programs and projects.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Creating project schedule and procurement plan to ensure smooth project execution in a timely manner with quality within cost.
  • Providing cost-effective management of project milestones in accordance with contract specifications and quality standards to maintain and improve project margin.
  • Securing variation orders and claims management with customers and subcontractors to leverage the organization’s interest.
  • Creating and delivering scope-specific work plans and budgets alongside risk assessments.
  • Identifying and evaluating risk and opportunity assessments and ensuring implementation of resulting actions in one’s area of responsibility.
  • Preparing and presenting Project Management Review (PMR) to management.
  • Managing and coordinating with customers and contractors in project execution in line with GE project management handbook.
  • Executing projects in accordance with GE Grid process and core values of safety and integrity.
  • Delivering project financial results: sales and margin billing and cash collection.
  • Building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Driving customer quality complaints and nonconformity of product with different stakeholders on root cause analysis and resolution process.
  • Reporting and resolving any nonconformances and processes in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrating EHS and compliance ensuring zero deviation.
  • Identifying and evaluating EHS and compliance risks and proposing practical measures.
  • Supporting tendering and sales with return of experience of best practices and risks to avoid.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic is essential.
  • 4–5 years of relevant experience in project management and contract management.
  • Familiarity with project management and proven ability to lead and manage projects.
  • Knowledge of the cross-cultural working environment and working styles of utilities in the region.
  • Proactive work style, creativity, energetic, and self-motivator with latest industry trends and knowledge.

Desired qualifications:

  • Fair knowledge of MS Office, SAP, and Primavera is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of grid products such as gas insulated switchgear (GIS), air insulated switchgear (AIS), power transformers, protection relays, and substation systems will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel overseas for short business trips.
