Role Overview

As a Mechanical Inspector reporting to the Mechanical Manager, your role involves both inspection and supervision of mechanical works on the project. You will check and examine mechanical activities using engineering skills to determine structural soundness and compliance with specifications, building codes, and other regulations. Inspections may be general in nature or limited to a specific area and must be conducted against approved shop drawings, materials, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect mechanical installations on-site including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting systems, and drainage systems.
  • Ensure works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, UAE Fire Code, etc.).
  • Report and document any non-conformances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other site inspectors to resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor site progress and prepare regular inspection and progress reports.
  • Ensure safety and quality control standards are maintained throughout project execution.
  • Verify that equipment and materials used on site meet the project specifications and approvals.
  • Attend site meetings and participate in commissioning and testing activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection within building construction projects in the UAE.
  • Familiarity with UAE construction practices, authorities, and regulations (Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi DCD, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and relevant codes.
