Project Leader Engineering

Responsibilities

As a project leader engineering, you have the opportunity to work on interesting international sorting systems. Are you the one who can translate a sales system design into an operational system? Do you like to navigate projects in the right direction and guide these from head to tail?

From sales to go-live

As project leader engineering, you'll be responsible for leading multidisciplinary projects. You are in the driver's seat to achieve the defined project goals, managing time, quality, costs, and functionalities from mechanical, electrical, and controls perspectives. Together with your colleagues, you will also identify and capitalize on synergies between multiple projects running in parallel to learn from others.

Once rewarded by our customer, our sales colleagues will do a handover to engineering. At this handover, the customer requirements and the as-sold solutions are explained. This is the input to start up the engineering phase. In the definition phase of the engineering, together with your lead engineers, you'll be in close contact with the customer and project management to agree on all system functionalities. In this definition phase, you also develop your plan of approach considering aspects like project planning, required resources, supply chain, and on-site installation and commissioning.

When there is a mutual agreement between the project team and customer about the defined system design, the detail phase of the engineering starts. In the detail phase, your team will create specifications to start up production and procurement. In this stage, you'll be in close contact with our internal supply chain and our third-party suppliers to secure quality, planning, logistics, and costs. Once production and procurement are ongoing, system emulations are coordinated by you to validate the controls design. Furthermore, you and your team will prepare site installation and commissioning.

When the customer's building is ready for Vanderlande to enter, it's time to rock and roll! Installations on site will start, meaning that the digital 3D models on your PC screen are becoming tangible in real life. If the physical installation is done, you're guiding the controls engineers in their commissioning and testing of the system in practice. Once everything is functioning properly, acceptance tests with the customer will take place, and you will join the go-live celebrations.

In general, as a project leader engineering, you are continuously identifying and mitigating project risks. You know how to make optimum use of and further develop the skills of your project team members. Besides leading your own projects, you'll be kept up to date on the most recent equipment and process developments. Your profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a technical subject
• Knowledge of mechanics, electronics, controls, or mechatronics
• Several years of working experience as project leader or lead engineer in technical surroundings
• Good command of the English language (verbally and in writing) is required; Dutch is preferred
• Willing to travel internationally (15-20% of your time)
