Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for an exciting new role to support growing operations in our Dubai/Iraq business. We are looking for a Project Manager to drive an exciting, strategically important project from initial scope through design, build and implementation phases to enable a fully functional technical training college in Basra, concentrating on construction trade skills to meet international standards. This will provide ongoing competence and development of our current workforce and improve employability skills in the local area.

Based in Dubai with regular visits into Iraq, this role will require a flexible approach with regards to travel. This is a terrific opportunity to be part of an innovative new project and may suit someone looking to take that next step in their career.

Key to this role will be stakeholder management, vision, initiative, determination, and cultural awareness. The role includes responsibility for safe delivery, ensuring that quality, schedule, and cost targets are met and for managing the associated risk. Responsible for delivery of project to agreed specifications, for managing change and customer relationships, and ensuring appropriate reporting and governance is adhered to and controlled.

Leadership
- Lead a diverse group of stakeholders (internal and external); utilising influence, collaboration and communication skills to lead the project to a successful conclusion
- Be a champion and role model for ethical behaviour and compliance with applicable laws and policies
- Coaches, mentors and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters
- Drive results with customer focus

Project Execution
- P & L responsibility with associated commercial and financial accountability including revenue delivery, margin and overhead management, budget and forecast determination and attainment, risk and opportunity reviews, cost controls, accounts payable/billing and cash collection
- Creates and leads project proposal and plan to determine timeframe, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the Includes setting project evaluation parameters.
- Pursue and develop opportunities for innovation, such as digitalisation and technology use, to bring value to Wood and customer
- Establishes project procedures and leads production of project execution plan including the scope of work, deliverables list, master schedule, budget, org charts, risk register etc
- Regularly reports project progress to senior management and/or the client
- Responsible for delivery of agreed schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippage
- Leads ongoing focus on risk identification and mitigation during project execution
- Responsible for the project HSSE leadership, ensures a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed
- Promotes and sets up performance improvement culture and actions on complex projects and into their supply

REQUIREMENTS

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification is preferred but not essential

Knowledge, skills and experience:

- Experience managing a project with multiple stakeholders
- Middle East experience preferable
- Knowledge/ awareness of construction sector helpful
- Experience leading multicultural teams

Personal Attributes:

- Excellent verbal, written and presentational communication skills
- Ability to motivate, engage and influence a diverse group of people, many without a direct reporting line
