JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Our Multi National Design & Engineering Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Roads & Highways Engineer to join their Construction supervision team in Dubai to work on new projects in the Emirate. Successful candidates will have extensive experience as a Consultant Roads & Highways Construction Supervision Engineer ideally with a recognized consultancy company background.
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent opportunity employed directly by our client.
Key Responsibilities:
• Function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large scale roads and infrastructure projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.
• Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.
• Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations, providing the seal and signature of the professional engineer when required by statute or contract.
• Prepares material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
• Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations. Performs reliability, availability, maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Recommends and prepares technical papers.
• Performs difficult and complex field engineering assignments involving the development, execution, supervision, and coordination of all technical aspects of a construction project.
• Maintains first-level quality assurance to confirm that the installation of all work within his/her discipline is in accordance with the plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• May supervise the construction engineering work and provide technical expertise for one or more of the construction engineering disciplines.
• Ensures that tests and inspections are performed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures.
• Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
• Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.
• Establishes and maintains liaison with the discipline design engineering staff.
• Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
• Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions.
• Develops discipline construction schedules and monitors progress. Provides schedule and progress appraisal report to the Manager.
• Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
• Ensures that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality.
• Organizes the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report.
• Initiates and maintains records, progress reports, etc., as required.
• May have some interface with the client and upper-level management.
Requirements:
Roads & Highways Engineer Experience:• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. - Professional Engineer registration would be advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years of construction and supervision work experience in Infrastructure projects like Roads and Utilities, within UAE.
• Competent knowledge and understanding of Dubai Authorities codes & regulations (RTA, DM, DDA, DEWA, ETISALAT, DCD, SIRA)
• Strong Knowledge and experience using computer software.
• Good oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate logically and clearly with management and staff.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
