JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
A Senior Category Manager / Senior Merchandising Manager / Senior eCommerce Manager is required by an eCommerce start-up changing the Middle Eastern market.
The Senior Category Manager / Senior Merchandising Manager / Senior eCommerce Manager will be responsible for driving the Commercial team to achieve its vision of providing the best service and experience for customers onsite.
The Senior Category Manager / Senior Merchandising Manager / Senior eCommerce Manager will:
- Have full P&L responsibility for the category
- Have responsibility of site merchandising, merchandising, buying, marketplace account management functions for the category
- Develop and implement the customer centric category plan across both marketplace and retail stocked in to deliver sales, margin and stock budgets
- Maximise margin delivery by managing suppliers efficiently and providing relevant and credible product offers that meet customer needs
- Deliver promotional activity to drive sales and competitiveness whilst supporting effective stock management
- Deliver against OTB and WSSI targets
- Ensure best in class customer experience through strong site merchandising, world class PDP’s, inspiring content and excellent knowledge of customer journeys for your category
- Hire, develop and retain high performing teams who look at driving performance
- Establish credible relationships with suppliers to ensure the best cost, best supply and best delivery for customers
- Be aware of market activity and continually using this information to ensure that the category is performing
- Ensure all metrics are hit across sales and stock by strong numerical understanding and management of merchandising roles
- Make certain that the business is competitively priced in the market, meets customers’ needs, products that are in stock and available for delivery wherever and whenever customers want
- Provide feedback and challenge on the commercial processes to ensure that the business continually drive improvements to better deliver for customers
- Contribute to projects within the Commercial team and the wider organisations
- Drive continued process improvement
REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills to be capable of monitoring market changes, competitor prices and products, and past sales patterns to forecast demand
- Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills to enable successful negotiations with suppliers
- Precise judgment and strong decision-making skills to enable the right actions for the category
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting within senior forums
- Excellent and motivational leader of people and teams
- Able to operate across and manage multiple roles/functions
- World class thought leadership
- Ability to roll up sleeves and get your hands dirty when you’re needed to
- Work in highly ambiguous situations comfortably
