JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose
• Supervision and carries out of all preventive, breakdown and overhauling activities of various electrical equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise and carried out planned and breakdown maintenance activities on Electrical plants and equipment in accordance with set plans, standard procedures and safety regulations.
• Assist the unit engineer in planning the work and manpower availability based on outages.
• Assist the unit engineer in preparing the scope of work for planned maintenance.
• Receiving work order and obtaining work permit.
• Provides ongoing training for all subordinates.
• Assists unit engineer in preparing requisition for spares and tools for purchase as per standard form/procedure and in carry out material inspection for items received in store.
• Preparing requisition for spares and tools and withdraws from store.
• Follows department objectives and ensures full implementation
• Ensures that all work carried out under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner and as per safety policy.
• Knows the Company Health, Safety and Environment Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensures effective Accident Investigation and follow up. Implements specific Safety Management System Program activities assigned to him.
• Accept safety document and ensure safety measurement during work execution.
• Ensure the availability of appropriate PPE with the staff under him and make sure that they use them properly.
• Assist the unit engineer in conducting the toolbox talks.
• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time by unit engineer or department head:

- Report to his unit engineer as and when required.
- All Should follow EHS procedure while on job
- Help to ensure safe working environment.
- Report all accidents, near misses, and safety concerns to the Supervisor and EHS section.
- Work as per procedure & best safety practice required to ensure safe EHS.
- Stop operations that are in clear violation of the safety requirements, approved SOPs, or may potentially result in injuries or potential exposures to hazards.
- Use personal protective equipment and engineering controls appropriate to their work
- Report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or safety committee as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Warn co-workers about defective equipment and other hazards.
- Participate in health and safety training applicable to their work situation.
- Participate in required site safety inspection and monitoring programs as and when required.

Work Contacts
• Regular daily contacts with the plant personnel up to unit supervisors for general co-ordination of work.

Reporting Hierarchy
• Direct : Unit Engineer
• Indirect : Electrical Department Head

Supervisory Responsibility
• Direct : Technicians
• Indirect :

Physical Effort
• 80% while supervising important work, risk work, modification work etc.
Work Environment
• 20% in A/C office work.
• 80% working in field.
• Regularly called out after working hours.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum qualification and experience
• B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with 3 years experience in maintenance of Electrical plants and equipment.
• Or 3 Year Diploma in Electrical with 8 years experience in large power stations in supervisory position.
• Language: Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
