Employment: Full Time

Senior Manager: Category Management & Capex

To implement Category Management to the supply chain operation. This role will be accountable for category management strategy and implementation of processes for defined categories and sub category/s spanning all high value spend areas (Sustainable Capex, Energy, equipment & services)

Client Details

My client are one of the UAE's largest industrial manufacturing conglomerates with well-established operations locally anf internationally. They are looking for an outstanding Head of Category Management to be responsible for implementing Category Management into the procurement function with a key focus us manufacturing CAPEX spend.

Description

Management: Position will have 5 direct reports (category managers)

* Improve supplier management - implement SRM for strategic suppliers.
* Mentor and train all teams focused on uplifting capability and skill sets.

Value delivery

* Implement a strategic and commercial TCO approach to all spend under management
* Align strategies to deliver on P&L, Cashflow and Working Capital targets.

Leadership

* Advise and align key stakeholders to the value benefits of category strategies and drive the necessary change management engagements required to educate the organisation on the required behavioural and process changes to support a Total cost of ownership (TCO) approach to ensure sustainable delivery.
* Lead and support the Category managers in the development and delivery of their category strategies.

Assist in mentoring and development of all SC personnel involved in managing and implementing these category strategies.

Day- to-day operations

* Monitor relevant market intelligence and ensure that strategies are adapted to capitalise on changes where relevant.
* Update key stakeholders regularly regarding progress and delivery against targets
* Advise and support SC teams on contractual issues resolution from award to close-out, including warranties and settlement of claims, to ensure that financial contract obligations are fulfilled by all.
* Liaises with other departments, regarding forecast, resourcing and services as necessary and provide guidance to areas on appropriate contracting strategies.

Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, and other external sources.

Process

* Develop and implements a standard Category management process and document this process including relevant supporting templates / documents.

Develop and implement a defined Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process.

Strategy

* Review spend and define relevant category categories.
* Identify key suppliers to engage in line with the defined SRM process.

Engage with key SC personnel and stakeholders to initiate category strategy development and support implementation focusing on sustainable value delivery.

Supplier Engagement

* Participates in technical / commercial clarification meetings to obtain clarification from bidders to ensure sound and informed award decisions are made
* Define negotiating strategy and lead major commercial negotiations.

Lead and coordinate the SRM engagement between key stakeholders and suppliers.

Savings reporting

Engage with Finance to ensure savings reporting is applied consistently and in a timely manner to reflect accurate value impact reporting.

Safety, Quality and Environment

* Ensures the implementation of safety, quality and environment standards in all arrangement concluded in line with management vision.

Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

Market Analysis

* Monitor relevant market intelligence and ensure that strategies are adapted to capitalise on changes where relevant.

Communicates with people outside the organization, represents the organization to customers, the public and other external sources.

REQUIREMENTS

They are only speaking to professionals with the following criteria and will not consider any candidates without:

* 5+ years as head of category management within an Industrial Manufacturing environment - NOTE FMCG experience is not of interest at this stage

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or demonstrated functional excellence leadership in Supply Chain
* Minimum Experience:

* 10 years relevant experience in category management and contracting with experience managing sustainable Capex projects.

Experience:

* Established a team and has driven category management approach across the business - prior CAPEX experience is a MUST
* Must have 5+ years experience as Head of Category Management (CAPEX) within an Industrial Manufacturing environment
* Must have experience managing 3-5 CAPEX Category Managers

Skills:

* Supply Chain functional expertise and knowledge ideally from a manufacturing or Capital intensive industry
* Good leadership skills.
* Strong background leading category management.
* SC capital projects experience.
* Prior SRM engagement and leadership experience.
* Good negotiation, interpersonal, and decision making skills.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
