JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
Our Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team in Abu Dhabi, UAE to work on Hospitality build and refurbishment projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Senior Project Manager specialized in Hospitality projects both fit out & refurbishment and build projects in the UAE / GCC and a proven background working in a recognized PMC, supervision, design or engineering consultancy
This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.
Key Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates strong track-record of leading large scale renovation projects (including the front-end set up and full-cycle delivery)
• Full project life cycle ownership: successfully delivers projects through all phases, from initiation to handover
• Takes a broader oversight role, ensuring either in-house or third party commercial-, design-, project controls-related activities, reporting, and deliverables are occurring at the pace and quality level required for project success
• Ensures that service delivery standards are upheld
• Coordinates the efforts of various workers in order to ensure that required tasks can be accomplished on time
• Proactively identifies obstacles and implements solutions on their projects
• Is able to ‘manage by exception’ meaning that he/she is able to develop a comprehensive action plan for a given project based on the client’s unique requirements
• Develops and reviews/updates required working documents in order to carry out project management effectively, with an acute attention to detail (e.g. meeting minutes, meeting agendas, action registers, risk registers, submission trackers, change control trackers, management plans, project directories, communication matrices, logs etc.)
• Proficient at the development of Project Executive Plans (PEP), including the comprehensive planning and detailing of bespoke delivery and procurement methodologies
• Ensures project dashboards and project monthly reports are accurate and issued as a formal record in a timely manner
• Develops progress reports, proposals, and presentations; leads presentations to colleagues, clients, and third-parties
• Gives final approval of work required for project implementation produced by junior team members, providing feedback and coaching as applicable
• Efficiently manages project meeting length and cadence; able to lead client/supplier calls of meetings (and knows when to intervene on behalf of a junior team member)
• Participates in and/or drives feasibility studies and prepares project initiation proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
• Leads the overall design process - guides Client to develop project brief, drafts design scopes, delivery programme, and consultant responsibility matrices to suit the project requirements, tracks design deliverables, drives the design programme, and manages review workflows & obtains necessary client approvals
• Skilled at reviewing drawings & specifications, understanding various design stages and the level of detail expected to be submitted at each, ensuring deliverables are in line with the Client's brief, drawing quality meets stage/project requirements, and design meets budget targets - able to drive design to course correct if the above is not satisfactory
• Proficient at developing and optimizing project programmes , including impact and delay analysis
• Strong grasp of commercial management fundamentals - is able to suggest & detail procurement routes and review forms of contract, able to control budget through budget & cost reports prepared by others, manages the development of estimates and BOQs (by others) at each design stage, controls project cashflow, proficient at the administration of the project contract, with a detailed understanding of the conditions of contract
• Develops and manages the change management processes - identify time and cost implications, tracking change status, issue change requests and variation orders, responsible for claims management
• Leads the tendering process, including preparing and collating documents for RFPs and Bid Documents, vendor selection, preparing technical evaluations, reviewing commercial evaluations
• Can review and assess, amend and negotiate contracts & service agreements (and subsequent variation orders)
• Proficient at drafting contract correspondence (e.g., letters, notices, instructions)
• Able to lead the value engineering process, with an keen eye to reduce time and cost without comprising on quality; local cost data knowledge expected
• Demonstrates impeccable document control both with regard to documents going to and coming from the client, and with regard to internal filing system
• Has highly proficient level of understanding on HSE and other technical competencies, taking full responsibility for site safety
• Good software skills - able to use word, excel, PowerPoint, and pdf markup software effectively
• Oversees client relationships with client's senior management and company leaders; demonstrates effective client complaint escalation, involving senior leadership when necessary to mediate situations that may arise between the client and the project team
• Maintains a regular schedule of high-level client meetings to ensure project satisfaction
• Proficient at mediating difficult situations that can arise between the client and a third party
• Oversees work on projects with a keen eye towards team profitability; knows when to tell a client ‘no’ politely and is able to negotiate reasonable commercial terms for additional requests by the client - in other words, is careful not to overdeliver
• Administers contract, including having a detailed understanding of contractual obligations and deliverables; ensures the timely execution of variations including extensions of time; manages all invoicing and chases Client for timely payments.
• Contracts and collaborates with outside agencies for support on an as-needed basis; manages purchase orders, invoices, and payments of third parties engaged on their projects.
• Initiates and runs with new business development (follows up on leads, grows existing client portfolio)
• Develops and leads pitch proposals
Requirements:
Senior Project Manager Experience:• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
• At least 10 years of experience in design/construction field, with at least 4 years experience in an international PMC firm
• Previously delivered projects as project lead (both pre- & post-contract phases).
• Previously managed and mentioned project teams/staff.
• Must have UAE & Hospitality experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
• Excellent stakeholder and vendor management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities
Salary:
AED
38,000 to 45,000
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
