The key objectives for this role are:

  • Develop detailed designs for offshore structures like oil platforms, wind turbines, and subsea systems, ensuring they meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Perform complex analyses to evaluate the strength, stability, and safety of structures under various conditions such as waves, wind, and earthquakes.
  • Choose appropriate materials that can withstand harsh marine environments and ensure the longevity and durability of the structures.
  • Ensure all designs and constructions comply with international and local regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects, from initial design and planning to construction, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address issues like structural failure, corrosion, and environmental impact.
  • Work closely with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and address any challenges that arise.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • Work with a team of engineers and designers to deliver the civil and structural design calculations and drawings within stipulated time.
  • Good analysis knowledge of in-place, preservice, spectral fatigue, seismic, pushover, and jacket mating for fixed platform structures and in-place, lifting, transit, and blast conditions of offshore structures.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to engineers for various secondary and miscellaneous calculations and designers for detailing and drawing.
  • Preparation of specifications for design basis report and soil investigation in line with project requirements.
  • Cross-functional teamwork for optimizing the layouts and general arrangement of structures, vendor drawings, foundation loads of the structures, and for resolving interference issues.
  • Engineering coordination with other departments, projects team, and site team for inputs or comments on civil and structural drawings prior to submission to client for approval.
  • Technical discussions with subcontractor consultants for review and approval of the drawing and design calculations.
  • Hands-on experience in industry software 3D model review tools, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Review of geotechnical report and interpretation of soil parameters for the analysis and design of shallow and pile foundations.
  • Participation in the project coordination meetings with the site, vendors, review consultants, and client to resolve technical issues, prioritizing the engineering activities to meet project schedule.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids for compliance to specifications and scopes of work.
  • Site visits to resolve construction problems and site mismatches with respect to drawings issued for construction.
  • Providing pre-bid engineering support by calculating the architectural, civil, and structural BOQs.

Expected:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the offshore/onshore oil and gas industry, including a minimum of five (5) years (preferred) in the GCC region.
  • Candidates with a master's in structural engineering are preferred.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a similar position in mega oil and gas or petrochemical projects, managing a team of engineers and designers.
  • Offshore experience is a must, while ADNOC experience is desired.
  • Expert in using structural software such as SACS, STAAD Pro, intermediate knowledge on FEM software like ANSYS and FEMAP, review software like TEKLA and NAVIS, and conversant in mathematical tools like Mathcad and MS Excel.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards like API, AISC, ISO, EN1993 (EURO), BS, ABS, and DNVGL. Also conversant with ADNOC design standards.
  • Able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing with other disciplines and multinational workforces in an effective manner.
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
