JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Parsons is now hiring an experienced Senior Marine Structural Engineer with a desire to work on maritime infrastructure projects that change the fabric of our communities. In this role you will determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client.

Responsibilities:

• Works independently with the assigned tasks under the guidance of the principal engineer.
• May function as discipline Project Marine Engineer on small to medium projects, assuming responsibility for leading marine works design.
• Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.
• Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
• Ensures compliance of marine and coastal design with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Scopes surveys, studies, and site investigations for marine and coastal developments
• Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
• Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
• May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
• Recommends and prepares technical papers.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in (Civil/Structural) Engineering and 10+ years of related work experience in marine structural and coastal engineering.
• Ability to perform in a lead capacity, excellent English written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current marine and coastal engineering design standards and guidelines.
• Ability to independently design marine structures such as quay walls, piers and floating structures.
• Port related experience, particularly container terminal experience, is an advantage.
• Experience with local approving authorities for marine and coastal works in GCC is an advantage
