Job description

Reporting to head chef, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Participate in dishwashing, garbage removal, silver polishing, pot washing or any other stewarding area as necessary in accordance with department needs.
• Ensure a safe and productive operation.
• Assure compliance with health department standards.
• Supervise and maintain the sanitation of kitchen, store rooms, hallways, dock, and equipment.
• Ensure that cleaning schedules are familiar with everybody and proper and consistent sanitation procedures are used by all colleagues.
• Must assist in the training of all stewarding duties.
• Assist in keeping updated with all items on the communication board and communicate to colleagues when required.
• Present on the floor during meal times ensuring safe and productive operations.
• Immediately alert the chief steward and hygiene manager at the first sighting of pest or rodents.
• Assist in maintaining that all colleagues are following the proper grooming standards.
• Ensure proper pass off to other leaders using logbook.
• Check BEO's - see what set ups are needed to be done on shift.
• Daily walkthrough of stewarding areas to observe staffing levels, quality control, maintenance and cleanliness.
• Assist in re-assigning colleagues during shift to areas of need.
• Assist in controlling stocks for daily use in the department (cleaning products, mop heads, etc).
• Assist in controlling breakage.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness of all kitchens and HOH areas as well as ensuring all maintenance needs are looked after.
• Ensure all paper towel dispensers are full at all times throughout the shift.
• Conduct shift briefing when required.
• Maintain regular attendance at department and operations meetings.

Qualifications

• Previous stewarding supervisory experience or role as a stewarding lead.
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable.
• Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.

Physical aspects of position (include but are not limited to):

• Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, sitting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
• Working with chemicals and other cleaning products
