JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities
• Perform data analytics, forecast demand, and identify baselines for purchasing that meet prioritized business requirements
• Prioritize and validate potential strategic options, determine the benefits cases for these options, and measure the performance against established KPI benchmarks
• Execute sourcing products, evaluate results, communicate with suppliers on quotes, interface with contracting, and enable updates in ERP systems
• Manage the purchase order process, including creating and approving the purchase requisition, selecting suppliers, verifying budget alignment, and confirming delivery of orders
• Maintaining inventory levels to meet customer demands for over 6,000 retail items
• Maintaining system variables for applicable items to ensure proper product ordering
• Maintaining correct pricing and supplier parameters in the system
• Resolving all pricing discrepancies for handled suppliers through SAP system
• Inputs distribution parameters into applicable products
• Sourcing applicable products to meet company and customer business objectives (including managing vendor authorization, price negotiations, logistics, packaging, shelf life, etc.)
• Achieve or exceed standards set by Management for fill rate, Inventory turnover, DCOS-Days Cost of Sales, SKU rationalization, MI- Merchandise Income and reduction of overstocks and aged inventory
• Maintaining vendor relationships for handled products
• Negotiate and collect vendor advertisement opportunities
• Frequent interaction with sales team and customers
• Support other buying group initiatives, including but not limited to: new vendor sourcing, new schematics, product buying, item set-up and maintenance, etc.
• Financial accountability in meeting planned levels of merchandise income
• Negotiate and collect promotional allowances, discounts and buy-in opportunities
• Purchase assigned commodities in of C-Store, items including but not limited to; groceries, health and beauty aids, food service, frozen foods, retail beverage, sundry items, fresh, dairy, snacks, and candy
• Perform any additional duties, not included in job description, as required
• Cross train on all commodities to be able to cover when requested

• Experience in the wholesale/retail industry in a high frequency tactical buying position
• Experience dealing with perishables, grocery, snacks, candy,
• Convenience store trade knowledge
• Familiarity with single pick environment with strict turn criteria
• Experience in identifying vendor order minimums and bracket requirements
• Experience in optimizing buying to create income and alleviate expense
• Dedication to excellence with a desire to succeed
• Experience with strategic thinking and ability to do a planned action versus a reaction

Physical requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively with others by telephone, or through written communication; assimilate information and make decisions; work under pressure in a detailed, organized manner.
• Good customer service skills with a professional, helpful and positive telephone presence.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure and compute percent, ratio, etc.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to multi-task and be highly organized.
• Ability to work in high pressure situations with ever changing deadlines and interruptions, in a professional manner.
• Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 10 pounds on a frequent basis, ability to lift 30 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, able to operate office equipment including telephone, computer, copier/scanner, printer, laminator, fax, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

• BS degree is required, or equivalent experience (4 or more years) in a related industry with a preferred concentration in Business, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Engineering or related field
• Experience with online computer buying and inventory systems
• Experience in identifying vendor order minimums and bracket requirements
• Familiarity with AS400 and SAP or other purchasing/procurement systems
• Very strong organizational, follow up, and communication skills
• Ability to manage a high volume workload, with ever changing deadlines and priorities
• Must work well under pressure, meet sometimes conflicting deadlines
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic, able to work overtime as needed to meet order deadlines
• Intermediate to advanced skill set in Microsoft Office systems and software (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
