Lead/Senior Cost Engineer

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead/Senior Cost Engineer to join our dynamic team in the mining and metals industry in Morocco. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting for our projects, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in cost control and management.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the cost engineering function within the organization, providing guidance and support to junior team members.
- Develop and implement cost estimation and budgeting processes for new and existing projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
- Monitor and analyze project costs, identifying variances and potential risks, and develop strategies to mitigate cost overruns.
- Prepare and present regular cost reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting key cost drivers and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Conduct cost benefit analysis and risk assessment to support decision-making processes related to project investments and resource allocation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs, and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions.
- Participate in project reviews and audits to ensure compliance with cost control procedures, and identify areas for process improvement.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize material and equipment costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of experience
