The role

Senior BIM Manager - Airport. This is an opportunity to take an influential role in a multi-billion dollar airport redevelopment programme due to commence in Auckland, New Zealand.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing knowledge and understanding of building information modelling (BIM) principles across the programme/project lifecycle.
• Developing and implementing BIM workflow and communicates the benefits of it within the project and client teams.
• Working with the client to produce and write the BIM execution plan.
• Understanding and developing the client BIM strategy and implementing it with consultants.
• Guiding the governance of BIM implementation on all project levels.
• Directing development of software templates and rule sets in line with client requirements.
• Conducting quality checks on models provided by consultants.
• Providing support to project delivery teams by managing the resolution of BIM related issues and tasks.
• Chairing meetings with the project director for BIM.
• Supporting development of using BIM in construction sequencing, costing and operations where required.
• Working with design consultants and contractors to manage the BIM implementation approach on a project level.
• Creating a strategy plan to implement the adequate use of technology in the design process and implement lean practices to minimise redo work in multiple design platforms.
• Establishing a process for collecting, evaluating, and developing parametric content specific to each design practice area.
• Developing and strengthening relationships with office and studio leaders by improving communication and transparency and involvement at project start up.
• Monitoring and guiding the model advancement and utilisation process through construction. Review the contractor’s BIM model and as-built model.
• Assisting with integrating into the commissioning process.

Requirements

The requirements

Your experience, knowledge and skills need to include:

• Previous experience in a leading the BIM strategy and BIM execution plan.
• Experience with global construction and design technologies including: BIM, document control, drones, PowerBI reporting and their applications and integration.
• Good management of interfacing between technologies to enable cross program information sharing.
• Involvement in the start-up phase to manage the WBS interface across design, construction, and operations.
• Understanding app based construction management tools including tablet reporting, site camera technology, health and safety technologies.
• Aviation/airport project experience.
• In-depth knowledge of BIM software applications i.e. Revit, AutoCAD and other software utilised for clash detection.
• Good understanding of the practice of architecture, project delivery and construction methods.
• Expert knowledge of standard BIM practices, techniques and procedures.
• Extremely service oriented and highly approachable with commitment to helping others.
• Good interpersonal skills and very comfortable and effective working with others in a team environment.
• Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion.
