Assistant Operations Manager

Job description / Role

One of our customers is looking for an Assistant Operations Manager based in Sur. This position is open for Omani nationals only.

General Purpose of the Position:
Support in ensuring that the production and water quality are in accordance with the terms of the Water Purchase Agreement (WPA). Under the Operations Manager of BVW, performs all planning tasks related to the operation of the RO Plant, supply, and storage facilities. Support in coordinating for all water treatment operations activities including processes for chlorination, coagulation, flocculation, flotation, filtration, reverse osmosis, disinfection and softening. Reports any abnormality of process equipment, calibrates tools & equipment, maintains & prepares operational records and monthly reports. Follow up all external subcontractors, support in development of operating budget.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support in smooth daily RO plant operation
- Support in laboratory regulation and process control testing and review procedures and quality control for compliance with
the WPA
- With the maintenance Department, analyzes and evaluates operation and maintenance functions
- Support in conducting studies which are investigating methods of improving operations
- Support in preparing for and responding to water quality emergencies, maintaining and updating emergency response and
risk management plans
- Support in preparing, organizing and coordinating with WPA the Annual Performance Test of the RO plant
- Support in development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommends and implements
established policies and procedures
- Support in preparation of operations yearly budget for chemicals, manpower and other miscellaneous items for management
approval
- Support in operating Sur Desalination Plant to ensure that it is performing in accordance with the WPA contract to produce
the correct quantity and quality of product water
- Operate Sur Desalination Plant according to the O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manual
- Performs inspection of the plant operational status to identify potential operations and maintenance problems
- Performs special testing, trials test run and piloting
- Analyses operations data from the SCADA and DCS
- Ensures that water level is sufficient based on forecasted water demands
- Adhere to the company Occupational Health and Safety policy at all times
- Perform and adhere to reasonable duty and specific request from Management
- Involvement in the risk assessment and continual improvement
- Involve in the development and implementation of the prevention plan / work permit

Requirements

- BTECH/Higher National Diploma / NVQ Level 4 in chemical or biological
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (chemical or biological) is a plus
- Local driving license is a plus
- Minimum 4 years of work experience in Drinking Water Plant with a capacity of 5,000 m3/day capacity
- Working in Industrial Plant (power, food and beverage)
- Knowledge of Pre-treatment systems (DAF and Clarifier and Membrane Technologies) is a plus
- Working in Gulf countries is a plus

Knowledge of:
- Excellent spoken and written English is a must
- SCADA and DCS utilization and handling of automated processes
- Water treatment and Desalination/RO plant operation practices and procedures, supervisory and management techniques
- Basic laboratory operations and activities
- Chemical handling, utilization and safety
- Modern office procedures and computer equipment
