Overview of the role
The Corporate Registration Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of corporate registration, licensing, and compliance within the Sultanate of Oman. They ensure that all legal activities align with local laws and regulations and act as the primary liaison with government and regulatory bodies. Success in this role requires a minimum of ten years of experience in the legal environment and a deep understanding of Omani laws and regulations. The role demands strong organizational skills and attention to detail, managing complex legal tasks while supporting other departments in regulatory compliance.
What you will do
Legal and regulatory support
Provide comprehensive legal and administrative support for all matters within the Sultanate of Oman.
Ensure that all legal advice, documentation, and compliance activities align with Omani laws and regulations.
Monitor and communicate legal and regulatory developments affecting the company's operations.
Commercial registration and licensing
Oversee and manage all Commercial Registration (CR) processes.
Handle licensing procedures, renewals, amendments, promotions, and cancellations across all relevant authorities.
Ensure all CRs, licenses, and related records are up to date and properly documented.
Monitor, advise on, and implement changes in regulations affecting licensing, CR, or operational compliance.
Government and regulatory liaison
Act as the company's primary focal point with government and regulatory authorities, including the Ministry of Commerce, Consumer Protection, and municipalities.
Maintain professional relationships and represent the company during meetings, inspections, and interactions with regulators and licensing bodies.
Manage all municipality-related affairs.
Consumer protection and compliance oversight
Lead and report on Consumer Protection compliance activities.
Ensure adherence to local laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Track all regulatory filings, renewals, and deadlines in coordination with relevant departments.
Legal research and documentation
Conduct legal research on Omani laws, regulations, and case law as required.
Draft and review contracts, memoranda, resolutions, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with Omani requirements.
Maintain accurate and organized legal files, correspondence, and databases.
Stakeholder and internal support
Support internal departments (Legal, Operations, HR, etc.) with regulatory requirements and document submissions.
Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely responses to legal and regulatory inquiries.
Assist with meeting preparation, take minutes, and follow up on action points.
Dispute and litigation support
Support the legal team in managing litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations in Oman.
Liaise with external counsel and assist in preparing case materials and reports.
Provide support to legal cases as advised by the Manager.
Reporting and record management
Prepare and maintain legal and regulatory status reports covering all ongoing cases, projects, CRs, licenses, and developments in Oman.
Ensure all official correspondences and documentation are properly filed and accessible.
Required skills to be successful
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Understanding of Omani laws and regulations.
What qualifies you for the role
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a legal environment with relevant experience in corporate registration and compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with excellent research and analytical skills.
