Job description / Role
An opportunity exists to lead and manage a Civil/Structural consultancy office based in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. The office is the regional office for a UK consultancy company. The company works on projects throughout the Middle East and has in recent years developed and consolidated their position in Oman. The work in most sectors such as retail, education, commercial, industrial and leisure.
The role is to lead and develop the business and expand on the client base in Oman and the UAE.
The Role:
- Develop and maintain positive professional relations whenever dealing with current and prospective clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion.
- Prepare project bids and develop work-winning strategies.
- Maximise current and potential business opportunities.
- Manage and lead both engineering design and also construction supervision activities.
- Actively participate with marketing and business development activities as requested including coordination of technical and financial inputs.
- Ensure execution of projects with the best outcome in terms of client satisfaction and Company returns through appropriate selection, assignment, utilization and management of staff.
- Plan, lead, organise and control operations to ensure project execution in accordance with agreed project plans.
- Provide technical oversight to all Staff engaged in design and documentation of projects.
- Ensure implementation of project specific quality assurance and control procedures to ensure all products meet high international standards.
- Ensure all Staff understand and apply all Company procedures.
- Develop mutual respect of staff, maintain staff morale and discipline, and identify and training requirements.
- Ensure adequate administrative support, technical resources and systems for information, document and file management.
- Provide leadership in the exchange of knowledge relating to best, current international practice and identification and analysis of new technology and trends.
- Responsible for providing best and cost effective solutions to the client's satisfaction and offer technical advice for the same to his team.
- Provide high level technical reports.
Requirements
- An experienced Chartered Engineer - Structural/Civil Engineer with a minimum of 15 years' experience.
- Previous Middle East experience is a must.
- A comfortable, confident communicator with expert command of English.
- Experienced in being client facing and previous management experience running a design office.
- Able to generate business opportunities.
- Expert level experience with British and American Codes of Practice.
- Expert level experience with Structural design software such as Etabs, SAFE, TEKLA, TEDDS, Stadd and Orion.
