Electrical Technician

Job description / Role

• Support the management of the long term gas turbine service contract with respect to planned and unplanned outage services of gas turbines
• Adhere to routine plant maintenance plans through the use of CMMS and plan when required.
• Support successful preparations and completion of planned shutdowns and unplanned shutdowns
• Implement electrical engineering best practices in accordance with OEM and international
• standards
• Support the implementation of a Long Term engineering strategic plan
• Recognise faults and their causes, and propose solutions as well as implement at anytime as required by plant operations to keep highest availability performance
• Undertake advanced condition monitoring techniques in fields such as: thermographs, vibration analysis, transformer oil analysis, etc
• Use specialist individual skills such as HV work, protections, excitation equipment, etc when necessary
• Support life cycle management for all electrical systems
• Support completion of planned shutdowns within time and budget
• Support Operations Department in the safe and efficient delivery of high levels of commercial availability within environment limits
• Liaise with Operations Dept. in investigation of suspected equipment problems and in appropriate testing of equipment after any repairs before the equipment returns to service
• Make decisions, or assist others to make decisions, to resolve plant maintenance problems with immediate, medium and long term consequences
• Attend at any time to the plant for troubleshooting or repair to minimize failures to plant availability.
• Support in the development of work Instructions as required.
• Be an active part of the maintenance team and help it to meet appropriate people and plant
• related performance measures
• Ensure Company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures are followed.
• Participate in internal / external Quality, HS&E audits and monitor relevant findings
• Help ensure all procedures, documentation, drawings and manuals are kept up to date and necessary training is completed in a timely manner
• Participate in suitable training programs, both for individual development and engineering competence, and develop knowledge and experience in colleagues
• Seek to continuously improve work.
• Any other tasks that may be require.

Requirements

Education:
• Higher Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering with some relevant experience.
• Time served Apprenticeship with some relevant experience

Experience:
• Overall experience 2-5 years
• Experience preferred in power stations, CCGT, Gas Turbines, and a wide range of auxiliary equipment.
