Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Operations Manager will be principally responsible for driving standardization across all sites and be expected to shadow the duties of the Chief Operating Officer, providing operational support on specific areas outlined in the operational duties; people development, standardization, project progress, planning, coordination & delivery between store and site.

Additional responsibilities include;
- Providing a reporting line of support to the COO by supporting site-based staff with operational issues.
- Develop and implement plans to enhance the planning discipline within SCC.
- Develop Project Management tools and roll them out to Projects.
- Work with the HR and Organisation Development teams to develop and deliver strategic competency plans to key project-based personnel.
- Assist in the competency assessment of key project-based personnel.
- Develop standardized reporting formats and ensure roll out and compliance across all sites.
- Collect all regular reporting information to analyse and summarize site progress for the COO.
- Liaise with relevant staff to ensure that the project reporting system is implemented adequately and that output on financial performance is reviewed at the appropriate level and frequency to ensure effective control of the project budget.
- Contribute to forming corrective and innovate ideas that will benefit site operations.
- Develop a suitable technical programme of induction to new Project Managers to ensure they are productive from day 1.
- Review technical engineering submissions prior to COO approval.
- Improve coordination and communication between store and sites to avoid risks to productivity.
- Optimize the movement of resources between projects by analyzing the Mob/Demob plans of each project.

Management & Leadership:
- Act as a focal point for all project related issues which require immediate attention.
- Ensure that all operational employees understand the organisations goals and work together as one team to achieve these.
- Resolve any production matters and ensures that appropriate action is taken which does not compromise nor expose our client to unnecessary risk
- Participate in a formal review of the project with relevant parties on completion and identify opportunities for learning and development.
- Establish and maintain good relations with clients, partners and local authorities aimed at safeguarding and promoting our Company’s interest.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, approve and manage the implementation of technological advances to enhance our capabilities.

Requirements

Essential:
- BSc. Engineering or equivalent
- 15+ years Construction experience in a Project Management, Earthworks, Civil role
- 5+ years of working experience in the Middle East
- Stakeholder Management (for projects valued at $20m+)
- Capable of driving teams and individuals to achieve results
- Excellent technical skills
- Capable of training and up-skilling others in their chosen technical field

Desirable
- Masters in Engineering
- Can demonstrate a strong focus on compliance and standardization
- Has a proven track record of driving standardization in existing company
- Experience of managing large scale construction projects and thorough knowledge of general construction contract requirements
- Capable of training and up-skilling others in their chosen technical field
