Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Looking for a specialist Ophthalmologist with Intraocular and refractive surgical experience.

• Maintain a clean appearance and hygiene standards
• Maintain a clean and hygienic room (together with nurses and support staff)
• Provide general ophthalmological services; full examination, argon, YAG, minor OPD procedures
• Stay up-to-date with latest ophthalmic treatments, protocols, innovations and research
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge of equipment and interpretation of results (e.g. reliability, findings)
• Avoid delays and co-ordinate with OPD nurses that patients are seen on time
• Follow work schedules as set out by the management and inform MD for any comment
• Care for each patient equally and respectfully
• Create and maintain a lasting doctor-patient trust and rapport
• Always act morally and ethically towards patients and their care
• Provide patients with options (if available)
• Inform patients of risks and benefits of their treatment(s)
• Maintain doctor-patient confidentiality
• Take care of on-call duties and advise patient’s for the appropriate action plan
• Consult colleagues as and when needed to ensure patient’s best care
• Internally refer patients to a colleague for specific areas of interest

Requirements

• Take responsibility for the content of your medical reports
• Inform relevant nurse-in-charge (OPD, excimer, OT) of equipment and instrument requirements (e.g. faults, servicing, consumables)
• Questions, comments and complaints for the management must be made to the Medical Director (MD)
• Contact MD as an when needed regarding patient cases or staff issues
• Report to the MD of comments about improvements needed (e.g. working environment, staff, new equipment)
• Represent Finland Eye Center with grace both at work and during free time
• Refrain from taking any type of bribe/kickback
• Treat all staff with respect regardless of position or title
• Respect the work of colleagues in FEC and outside
• Take responsibility for your own actions
• Always act in the best interest of the patient
• Take care of yourself - rest and nutrition are essential for efficient working
• To take active participation in the mobile van clinic at various location in Sultanate of Oman.

About the Company

Finland Eye Center is the first venture in Oman and the Middle East by a Finnish group of medical field experts who have already established several eye centers within Europe. The main branch in Qurum, Muscat was inaugurated in 2007 with additional branches in Sohar, Salalah and Al Khoudh following suit in 2010, 2011 and 2015 respectively. Due to increased demand, the FEC Muscat branch relocated to the current, larger premises in March 2012. FEC provides comprehensive ophthalmic care from the cornea to the retina from eye examinations to a full range of surgeries in our own state-of-the-art Operating Theater, making FEC the largest private eye care center in the Sultanate with nearly 40,000 patients to-date at the Muscat branch alone.
