Job description / Role
A large construction contractor in the MENA region is looking for a Project Controls Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing project controls staff by providing technical and operational support
- Preparing the project controls execution plan and procedures
- Reviewing the baseline program and establishing time and cost control requirements
- Reviewing cost estimates with other departments to confirm feasibility and validate timelines
- Developing project controlled budget and update quarterly cost-to-complete and risk register
- Preparing the projected cash flow within the project scope of work
- Delivering regular progress and summary reports for management, addressing any significant variances in budget expenditures together with recommendations for corrective action
- Advising the project and construction managers on the time/cost impacts of initiating change requests
- Producing s-curves and statistical analysis diagrams (earned value management, planned vs. Actual and trends)
- Attending monthly meetings overseen by the project manager and the client representatives
- Prepare and present the weekly progress presentation to the client, high management, and executives
- Reports to: project manager and functionally to business unit head
- Working relationships: Engineers, Project managers, Construction mangers, Planners, Contract managers, Procurement managers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or QS
- Master's degree is a plus
Related professional experience
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience working in cost controlling, planning and estimating
- Demonstrated working experience in complex construction projects and meeting delivery requirements
Business and technical skills:
- Ideal candidate will have experience using industry standard project controls software and cost accounting and earned value packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of the construction industry
- Full understanding of performance measurement methodologies, earned value techniques and project scheduling and cost management
- Leadership skills, supervisory skills, and the ability to adapt project controls principles into a multicompany environment
- Significant experience in claims avoidance, claims management and risk management
- Excellent ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Team player who works to help colleagues excel
