Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The function of the Retail Design Manager is to ensure that the presentation and functional quality of all stores in the Client portfolio is of the highest possible standard and in line with the company’s directed design criteria and precinct design criteria.

The Retail Design Manager must ensure business driven retail design solutions, on-site store delivery, and minimisation of down-time in the income stream as a result of programmed openings.

The Retail Design Manager process is achieved through both customer focus and the ongoing relationship with retailers, their designers and their contractors, builders and or shopfitters. To this, the Retail Design Manager must be multi-disciplined in Retail Design, Retail Knowledge and Construction Management.

Requirements

Internal Relationships

Director - RDM
- Participate in meetings to discuss issues and status
- Review and determine daily priorities
- Seek authorization when required
- Seek performance feedback
- Escalate issues through chain of command

Leasing Executive/s
- Establish priorities
- Seek and provide information
- Seek clarification regarding agreed terms and conditions with merchant
- Define scope of works in preparation of tenancy

Centre Manager/s
- Track activities to ensure tenancy is handed over to lessee by deadline.
- Operations Manager/s
- Discuss issues
- Manager- Retail Design
- Liaise with Centre Management to coordinate works and costs

Manager- Tenancy Delivery
- Discuss and coordinate issues
- Report status in Retail Design Management meetings on each asset.
- Track activities to ensure tenancy is handed over to lessee by deadline.

Lease Plan Designer/s
- Detail lessor and merchant requirements and lease terms and conditions
- Client Project Management
- Assist billing tenants for works
- Coordinate and obtain final lease plan for Retail Design and Delivery
- External Relationships

Merchants
- Confirm lease terms and conditions
- Discuss merchant issues
- Handover tenancy to merchant/s and or Tenant Authorized Representative (TAR)

Retail Designers
- Assist billing tenants for TVR works

MEP/Fire Engineers
- Confirm tenant manual, design criteria, conditions of premise, and logistic package
- Chase and guide designer forward a Final Design approval
- Chase and guide on MEP design toward a final design approval
- Tenants/Contractors / Shop Fitters
- Coordinate Lessor works where applicable
- Snag fit-out works

Dimension

Complexity
- Ideally experience in retail design and retail construction of similar project.
- Management skills and the ability to relate to the complexities of managing retail property.
- University degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
