Post Summary
The school nurse will facilitate positive student response to normal development; promote health and safety, intervene with actual and potential health problems, provide case management, teach self-care skills and actively collaborate with others to build a student-family capacity for adaptation.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Advise the school receptionist to contact parents to pick up patients who might be uncomfortable due to injury, severe pain or who might have developed a contagious illness.
- Educate students about health care and safety issues; proper hand washing, the spreading of germs and self-care techniques.
- Examine and authenticate vaccination records.
- Monitor and dispense prescription medications based on instructions from parents and general practitioner.
- Contact teachers about any medical emergency.
- Maintain accurate and complete records on each student; health and medical history.
- Provide care to students and staff who need emergency care due to injury or present with an acute illness.
- Assist faculty and staff in monitoring chronic medical conditions.
- Develop an Individual Health Plan (IHP) for children with chronic disease.
- Give all requested vaccinations to students.
- Check for lice and take needed actions.
- Write and keep a record of all incident reports.
- Enter all students’ data on icampus accurately.
- Perform daily check up on KG students (fever)
- Attend all school events.
- Ensure that all medicines are not expired and equipments are in good condition.
- Submit quotations for any needed items for the nurse room.

Requirements

- Bachelors or Diploma in Nursing
- Fluent English Speaker
- Experienced in dealing with children
- Preferably located in Oman
- Aware of the necessary first aid expectations
- Capable to identify the needs of a school clinic

About the Company

Al Shomoukh International School (SIS) is a new KG to Grade 12 global school in Muscat. Established by Global Education Services (GES) the school opened for the 2015/16 school year in Al Hail.

A new school has been constructed and, combined with an international curriculum and excellent staff, the school intends to become one of the outstanding international schools in Muscat. It will draw students from both the local Omani and expatriate community. Both will be rewarded with an education experience of the highest order.
