Job description / Role
A leading Contractor in the MENA region is looking for a Senior Construction Expect to join their team in Muscat, Oman.
Key responsibilities:
• Track on-site project performance across all company projects via a structured framework, directly reporting progress to the COO and the Transformation Management Office
• Conduct time-motion studies on key activities of selected projects
• Identify tangible and pragmatic improvement opportunities (e.g. workflow, material handling, used tools, labor motivation, distribution of tasks, site management, machinery utilization, etc.) both for specific project sites, as well as across the wider company
• Follow-up on the implementation of improvement measures through continuous site visits
• As necessary, aid in the implementation of the identified improvement opportunities
• As necessary, provide expertise to troubleshoot particular critical issues which may occur on projectsite
• Where absolutely necessary, directly intervene in a project and assume project management control to turn around the project
• Guide/coach the project managers, such to improve their capabilities and ultimately project performance
• As required, assess the performance of the PMs, developing relevant on-site and classroom based trainings so to raise the capabilities of the PMs
Requirements
• Minimum 15-20 years of construction and project management experience
• Previous experience working both inside and outside of the Middle East
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget
• Previous experience in construction turnaround an advantage
• Deep hands-on construction know-how and bias for being on-site
Experience in oil & gas and at least one of the following areas:
• Civil, marina and infrastructure
• Roads and bridges
• Utilities and services
