Senior Highway Design Engineer
Oman

Position Overview:
• An in-depth knowledge of Highway and Urban design standards and specifications.
• Responsible for checking quality project deliverables from Design Engineers.
• Independently develops methods and solutions for engineering problems; selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the various design engineering requirement on medium to large infrastructure related projects or studies.
• Capable of working under challenging workload.
• Completes a wide variety of difficult engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analysis within one discipline.
• The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Act as technical expert in the team. Provide design of various categories of roadways such as preparation of project study reports, pavement design, geometric approval drawings, cross section generation for urban and rural road.
• Undertake highway design in accordance with international standards such as AASHTO, DMRB and relevant standard in the Middle East countries.
• Understand the design principles and apply them on the job.
• Provide engineering reports and prepare computations, material quantity take-off estimates, surveys and design.
• Involved in the full lifecycle experience across a range of projects.
• Provide technical design across a range of urban and rural road projects.
• Deliver projects as per the requisite quality standard and time line agreed with the Client.
• Focus on Client’s requirements and anticipate future customer needs.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to other Engineers and design staff and promote team work.
• If necessary, provide training to develop junior staff to strengthen the capability of the team.
• Comply with the requirements of Parsons Health and Safety and Quality control system, procedures and management plans.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

Qualifications:
• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized College/University.
• Eight to twelve (8-12) years of postgraduate experience in highway design, at least 5 years of which as Senior Engineer with responsibility of supervising design resources. This must include period with large consultancy practice.
• Previous experience designing an expressway with multilevel interchanges.
• Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques and procedures.
• Proficient in the use of Bentley software for highway design, Civil 3D, Microstation, Projectwise, SewerCAD, WaterCAD, KYPipe and similar hydraulic design software.
• Clear knowledge of work procedures.
• Technical reviews / writing / communication skills.
• Ability to implement Quality Management System on projects effectively.
• Work experience in the MEA region is essential.
