Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Deputize Ground Safety Manager during his absence.
- Assist Ground Safety - Manager in fulfilling all aspects of air-side safety as prescribed in safety manuals, policies and procedures.
- Efficiently and effectively manage Health, Safety and protection of the Environment with respect to company HSE Policy and Procedures.
- Obtain and maintain up-to-date knowledge on Omani labour law, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment, applicable safety regulations, Civil Aviation Authority, DGSAS, DGCAM, OAMC and IATA requirements and recommendations.
- Monitor compliance and adequacy of HSE procedures to ensure safe practices of ground operations activities including aircraft ground handling, ramp, cargo and all other activities that support airline operations at the terminal.
- Maintain proper liaison with all departments to enforce- ensure standards and recommendations are adopted.
- Liaison with counterparts in other professional and regulatory organizations e.g. Ministry of Labor, DGSAS, Oman Airports, etc.
- Ensure that all occupational accident - incident are investigated in accordance with the approved procedures and guidelines, monitoring adverse trends and making suitable safety recommendations for the prevention of future occurrences while ensuring records are kept of all accidents- incidents.
- Proper follow-up on all safety recommendations for HSE accidents- incidents through the occurrence reporting database Q-pulse, as applicable to HSE.
- Promote HSE awareness by making presentation to employees and contributing to HSE training programs, including handling of hazardous material, first aid, operation of specialized vehicle and equipment and operational safety.
- Ensure safety and fire equipment's are maintained by all departments to the highest standards as recommended by the manufacturers and are operational at all times.
- Maintaining and updating Occupational Safety Report database in the system and follow up with concerned departments for necessary action and closure.
- Collect and prepare occupational safety incidents and accident statistics, to predict the safety trends and submit the report to the management, for their actions.
- Establish and ensure staff are up-to-date in the training of safety and fire equipment.
- Conduct audits and inspection to identify hazards, system and personnel failures to develop control measures, as well as develop an understanding of the risk and the performance of the department relative to the risk on HSE.
- Visit regional airports for Audits and spot checks.
- Attend Regular team meetings of obtaining information, identifying safety issue and continuous improvements.
- Consistently monitor that all PPE is correctly fitted and worn as per Company policy.
- Represent the Ground Operations Safety Section at meeting and any other committee as required.Carry out special assignments as per senior management requests.

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in a related discipline with 6 years of relevant work experience in HSE Department preferably in the industry and NEBOSH Certificate and other specialized training in Health, Occupational Safety & Environment is required.
