Course Overview

Deakin's Bachelor of Commerce gives you the opportunity to explore accounting, economics, marketing, and more. You will gain understanding in financial, market and personal skills, and develop fundamental knowledge of money (finance/accounting), evidence-based decision-making and business analytics. You will come to understand the world of business and be aware of external environments, including consumer and business markets across domestic and international economies. You will also gain knowledge of commercial, contractual and governance frameworks, and the vital role of marketing in modern businesses.

Deakin University's Bachelor of Commerce is accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). This degree is also internationally recognised and EPAS accredited by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

24 credit points, including:

  • 8 core units
  • 8 compulsory units from a major sequence
  • 8 elective units which enable you to undertake 1 four-unit minor and 4 elective units. You can also choose to utilise your 8 elective units to undertake 2 four-unit minors, or a second 8 unit major
  • 0-credit-point academic integrity unit.
