Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities

- Preparation of monthly provincial sales tax withholding statements for all four provincial sales tax authorities;
- Preparation of monthly Federal sales tax returns;
- Coordination with Tax consultants for Filing of the monthly Provincial sales tax withholding statements and Federal sales tax returns;
- Computation of monthly stamp duty liability on all orders issued across Pakistan and coordination with regulatory authority for issuance of challan;
- Ensuring timely settlement of all Statutory payments relating to Indirect Tax including monthly provincial sales tax withheld across Pakistan, Federal Sales tax payable on supplies across Pakistan, Stamp Duty on orders issued every month, Sales tax on intellectual property services and other services acquired from foreign vendors;
- Ensuring Timely recording of all liabilities and payments relating to Indirect Taxes in the books of accounts which includes provision of General Entries and reviewing correcting postings by Accenture & Genpact as the case may be;
- Preparing monthly Sales tax reconciliation to ensure all indirect tax ledgers are reconciled with the monthly return / withholding tax statements submitted with the tax authorities;
- Maintaining regular communication / follow-up with Customers to ensure all issued Credit notes have been accepted;
- Maintaining close coordination with the accounts payable team to apprise them with any defaulting vendors with Inactive taxpayer's status or late submission of Invoices so that timely action can be taken to prevent any loss of Input claim ability for Mondelēz Pakistan
- Monitoring customer final settlements to ensure that Sales tax recoverable under any unaccepted credit notes or otherwise is duly deducted from the settlement amount with the alignment of the customer;
- Maintaining close coordination with customer service team to ensure that Sales tax on advance receipts is duly deposited with the Federal Board of Revenue and likewise tax is recovered on reduction in outstanding advances
- Maintaining record of all Withholding Sales tax Challans and providing the same to the respective vendors on request
- Performing month end clearing of all GLs relating to Indirect taxes, and other statutory duties.
- Ensuring Compliance with all Provincial Sales tax laws and Federal Sales tax laws in Pakistan by relevant stakeholders in Mondelez Pakistan i.e. the Commercial Teams as regards charging of Sales tax on supplies and by the Accounts payable teams as regards withholding of taxes from payments against goods and services acquired by the Company;
- Educating the stakeholders on best practices for tax compliance and keeping them updated with all changes in the relevant tax laws on a timely basis to ensure seamless compliance;
- Liaising with tax consultants and legal counsel for all ongoing Indirect tax proceedings & litigations of Mdlz Pakistan Limited including extraction, compilation and submission of information / records requested by Tax authorities / Appellate forums;
- Working as the first and final response person for issues / disagreements and queries relating to Indirect tax which includes liaising with internal stakeholders as well as vendors, customers and consultants for timely resolution;
- Review of monthly markup computations prepared by Genpact for all Running Finance accounts of Mdlz Pakistan and ensuring timely recording of the relevant provisions;
- Making timely payments of quarterly markups to the relevant issuing banks of running Finance facility after reconciling the markups demanded by the banks with provisions in accounting records;
- Supervising payments to foreign vendors and liaising with banks as well as internal and external stakeholders (foreign vendors/ banks) to ensure seamless payments of imported consignments and resolving any glitches as and when they arise;
- Liaising with the authorized dealer (bank) as well as state bank of Pakistan for registration of Royalty agreements with the Principal Company;
- Liaising with external auditors for Quarterly Royalty audits necessary to emit Royalty payments in line with the requirements of the State bank of Pakistan;
- Keeping the regional leadership apprised with all outstanding tax proceedings, potential exposure to Mondelez Pakistan along with the course of action adopted for resolution along with the stage of such process via Quarterly updates

Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Language Requirements

- Chartered Accountant / ACCA
- Deep knowledge of Tax laws and regulations and accounting.
- Deep expert knowledge of Statutory Accounting (for local accounting)

Experience

- 3-5 years of experience in Indirect tax accounting / preferably in international business environment
- Experience in working with financial systems example: SAP
