Safety Manager

Philippines

Job Summary
Establishes Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs, procedures and regulations to enhance EHS awareness among employees to attain a zero accident, zero lost work days and eliminate environmental citations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS Program Management
- Establishes, promotes and maintains a safe and hazard-free working environment;
- Formulates and develops safety policies and procedures;
- Conducts safety audits on facilities and equipment on a regular basis and evaluate safety compliance of projects;
- Reviews safety plan/programs and make needed revisions/corrections as necessary;
- Provides safety information, advice and recommendations as required by ongoing activities and projects;
- Sets safety performance measurement parameters for the company as a whole and as per project;

Safety Program Awareness
- Develops and coordinates safety training programs to promote proficiency in safety practices and promote awareness;

Risk Prevention Management
- Recommends safety measures to reduce/eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with legislative requirements;
- Anticipates risks and prepare risks assessment of proposed projects and activities to include environmental concerns during pre-bidding and bidding stages;
- Conducts Safety Inspection of projects to identify conditions and practices not in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards as well as the company’s construction safety procedures;
- Evaluates risks of recognized hazards and impacts to environment, and determine priorities of corrective actions;
- Reviews corrective actions to ensure compliance with safety standards and recommend revisions or improvements as called for;

Safety Investigation & Report
- Collates and analyzes accident records and statistics and recommends appropriate corrective actions;
- Investigates serious and major accidents, near misses, and safety related problems;
- Prepares EHS written report;

Coordination
- Coordinates with management on required safety preventions and control on all safety and health issues;

Technical Improvement
- Keeps abreast with events and development in Environment, Health and Safety profession to have a properly directed self development

Requirements

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- In depth knowledge in implementing EHS program, Safety Awareness and Risk Prevention Management
- Complete knowledge and analysis of codes, standards, laws and regulations that apply to safety and occupational health, fire protection and life safety and its application to workplace situations
- Skilled in conducting training on environment, health and safety procedures Ability to conduct safety investigation and reports
- Ability to prepare written reports on EHS
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills Interpersonal and Coordination skills
- Technical writing skills
- Document Management Skills
- Updated on the latest development in the EHS profession

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:
- Graduate of any 4 year course/Engineering Graduate Experience:
- With minimum of 10 years related work experience in a supervisory position in a construction industry

Trainings Required (but not as a condition for hiring):
- Job Orientation
- ISO-EMS 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 Awareness
- DOLE Prescribed Trainings for Health & Safety in Construction

Certification/License Required:
- Preferably Licensed Engineer, DOLE accredited OSH Practitioner
