Job Description
- Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Ensure lessons are well-planned and follow departmental schemes of work, the Arabic A (Arabic speakers) and B (non-Arabic speakers) curriculum or relevant examination specification and incorporate the GEMS Core Values where appropriate.
- Use the school's provided Teacher Planner or similar to provide evidence that relevant procedures and curriculums are being followed.
- Ensure that each lesson is taught in line with the school's Policy for Learning and mark students' work in line with the department's marking policy. Assess students' learning and monitor their progress in line with the departmental assessment and recording policy. Maintain detailed and accurate records of student achievement.
- Set and mark home learning in line with the school's Home Learning Policy and ensure the proper use of the Student Planner. Ensure students are properly and fully prepared for examinations.
- Strive for continuous improvement and be willing to try alternative approaches such as comparative data and prior attainment data to set targets for students. Identify students with additional needs and refer them for additional support if appropriate.
- Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
- Contribute to the writing and revision of schemes of work. Share good practice, ideas and resources and contribute to the review and evaluation of departmental practice.
- Build positive and effective relationships with parents and communicate and consult as necessary. Complete high quality subject reports that conform to the school's policies and meet published deadlines. Attend Parent Consultations to discuss individual students' progress with parents.
- Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Perform other duties as requested by direct & dotted reporting line managers / supervisors..
Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Recognised Arabic teaching qualification
Skills:
- Able to teach Arabic to speakers and non-speakers, excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and work effectively with students and staff.
Experience:
- Two (2) years' relevant teaching experience in schools.
Education:
- Arabic Language and Islamic Arts
