Architectural Draftsman

Job description / Role

The Architectural Draftsman prepares detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans according to specifications provided by the project architect.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment and/ or Architectural Revit to produce designs, working drawing, charts, forms and records.
- Analyze building codes, by laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
- Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
- Draw rough and detailed scale plans for buildings and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Lay out and plan interior room arrangements for all/ type buildings using computer-assisted drafting (CAD)/ Revit equipment and software.
- Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
- Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to list of materials.
- Determine procedures and instructions to be followed according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.
- Analyze technical implications of architect's design concept, calculating quantities, volumes and other factors.

Requirements

- A degree in Architectural Drafting is essential.
- Must have 3+ years experience in architectural drafting.
- Proven experience of full responsibility for drafting a project

Skills:
- Computer literacy with a strong proficiency in Autodesk 3D Studio Max and Photoshop.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and operate in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; maintain a calm poise during stressful situations.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect while being in a creative space
- Can work under pressure while being highly productive
- Accept personal accountability for project deliverables.
